Introduction

At CEM Readymix Concrete Ltd., quality begins with raw materials. Each component  from cement to admixture  is sourced, tested, and stored under controlled conditions to ensure consistent concrete performance and long-term strength.

Specification of Constituents Raw Materials

  • Cement: Portland Composite Cement. Ordinary Portland Cement Grade: 42.50. 52.50
  • Coarse Aggregate: 20 mm down well graded Machine crushed stone chips in proportion as ASTM C-33, AASHTO M80
  • Fine Aggregate: 100% Sylhet sand of F.M-2.50
  • Admixture: ASTM C494 Type: G
  • Water: Portable Water
  • Batching: Accomplished by weigh batcher
  • Mixing: Accomplished by Shaft Mixer

Storage & Han​dling:

  • Aggregates stored in covered bins to prevent contamination
  • Cement silos (70 MT each) ensure moisture-free storage
  • Automatic weighing and feeding minimize human error
  • Separate tanks for admixtures and water to preserve consistency

Testing & Laboratory

Our extensive quality control laboratory ensures that all raw materials are tested regularly in compliance with ACI and European standards. Every component  from cement and aggregates to admixtures and water  is verified under strict supervision to guarantee consistent strength, durability, and performance in every batch. Every batch of materials is tested for:

  1. Moisture conten.
  2. Specific gravity and fineness
  3. Gradation of aggregates
  4. Compressive strength (for trial mixes)

Our QC team continuously evaluates data to maintain precise batching and consistent mix quality.

Quality Control

Quality control at CEM Readymix Concrete Ltd. is a vital part of the manufacturing process.
To ensure consistent and reliable concrete production, the process is divided into three key stages:

  1. Forward Control
  2. Intermediate Control
  3. Retrospective Control

Forward Control

Forward control and consequent corrective actions are essential aspects of maintaining concrete quality. 
This stage includes:

  • Control of purchased material quality
  • Proper material storage management
  • Mix design preparation and verification
  • Regular plant maintenance
  • Calibration and maintenance of transfer and weighing equipment
  • Maintenance of transit mixers and concrete pumps

Intermediate Control

Intermediate control focuses on real-time actions to ensure the quality of concrete being produced and delivered. It covers:

  • Monitoring batch data and verifying accurate weighing
  • Visual observation of concrete for uniformity, slump, and cohesion
  • Making necessary adjustments based on visual inspections
  • Sampling and testing of concrete at the plant following established quality control procedures, including:

(a) Slump test
(b) Sampling
(c) Plastic density
(d) Temperature, etc.

Retrospective Control

Retrospective control deals with post-production evaluation and continuous improvement. 
It includes:

  • Sampling of concrete, testing, and monitoring of results
  • Reviewing material stocks and diagnosing faults identified from customer feedback or complaints
  • Operating a comprehensive quality control system to maintain designed mix strengths at required levels
  • Performing continuous analysis of actual results compared with target values
